INDUSTRY GOSSIP: MARY J. BLIGE TO PLAY NINA SIMONE IN BIOPIC

Mary J. Blige has been lined up to portray Jazz legend Nina Simone in a new film. The Cynthia Mort movie, ‘Nina‘, centres on Simone’s relationship with her assistant Clifton Henderson, who will be portrayed by David Oyelowo. Simone was an iconic musician and activist whose biggest hits included a covers of ‘I Loves You Porgy’ and ‘I Put A Spell On You’
For those who are concerned,Cynthia Mort’s resume includes a stint as a writer-producer on TV’s “Rosanne” and “Will & Grace” and as creator of “Tell Me You Love Me.”
If all goes well this good be a very good movie which could earn Mary J. Blige an oscar.
